I have an MRX700. I have a Samsung tv with some online functionality e.g. Amazon Videos. All of my components such as blu-ray, media player, pc are all input into the hdmi's of the MRX. Then one output goes into the Samsung TV. The only way I can seem to get audio to come from the tv when the source is the tv itself, is to hookup a toslink output from the tv into a digital input of the MRX. Considering the fact that the tv is already outputting video via hdmi to the MRX, how would I send audio from that same output source?

There is a feature called ARC that helps with this situation, but both your AV receiver and the TV need to have it. With your existing equipment the Toslink connection may be your best bet.

Does your tv have an HDMI out put that is connected to an

HDMI input on the MRX? That is the only way to get audio

Via HDMI into the MRX.


It looks like you have it all connected correctly,

Especially the Toslink out from the tv to the MRX

For your smart apps. I believe this is the best way to do it.

Thanks for the quick replies. I would use another tv hdmi out into an mrx input, but there's not an mrx input to spare for this occasional use. I think I'm good with my digital in solution.


I just ordered a chromecast stick. I guess i'd be running into the same dilemma with that as well
