Simultaneous HDMI/DVI and analog?

524 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  ErikS
I am planning my in-laws whole house A/V system and have come across a special need, leading me to ask for advice/data. This is a cross post of a thread I started in the DVD player forum.

1) Are there any DVD players that will output an upconverted/480p signal over HDMI and simultaneously an 480i signal over analog composite?

2) If not, are there any DVD players that will output 480i over HDMI and simultaneously 480i over analog composite?

TIA!

I can confirm that HDMI connection will shut down component video connections but I'll have to open a box and test what happens to composite video when HDMI is connected.

One other sad thought. The current HDMI specification includes 480i but a significant number of DVD players still do not support 480i.

The Sony DVP-CX995V 400 disc player will output 480p/720p/1080i on hdmi while it is sending out 480i/480p on component. I didn't try the composite though.
