We are on our third boombox from Radio Shack. This one is a Sportster.

Although they've worked fine on AC and when plugged into the cigarette lighter attachment none of the boomboxes has worked on battery power. The sound goes on and off intermittently...on for one second and off for the next, until after a short time, the screen indicates "low battery strength" and the radio turns off. This is in spite of the fact that we are using brand new batteries (we confirmed this with a battery tester). The signal strength is good...between seven and ten bars.

What is going on? Has anyone else had this problem?

We have a property that is off the grid in Southern Utah, with no available land based radio reception, and we NEED satelight radio.

I have the same problem with mine, new batteries but it just keeps going in and out of power it seems. I gave up on it and probably will give up on sirius as they just started censoring alt nation and faction channels.
