From what everyone else says, Coke or Pepsi. Just check the line up of channels to see what you would rather listen to. I have Sirius and really love it. And if i wasn't a Stern fan XM would probably be just as good. He pushed me over the edge on decision making and i'm glad i did. My mp3 player is getting dusty from no use.

I think with the pressure on Sirius to do well, we the customers will receive the benefits for content and hardware.
I went with XM because they were the only service to offer a dedicated channel to punk music. My fiance has Sirius so I'm pretty familiar with both the main difference between the two is that XM has deeper playlists while Sirius is primarily hits oriented. Otherwise people pick over things like Stern vs. Opie and Anthony or NFL vs. MLB. You can always do a 3 day trial of XM online to make sure you made the right choice. Sirius offers a sample period online as well.

I am a little surprised you said you liked the Sirius hardware better. On the budget side of things both companies are comparable but on the higher end gadget category XM wins hands down.
I have both. Can't afford both, can't decide which to drop. In general Sirius is better for talk (Stern, NPR, etc etc) and XM is better for music. XM is much better for music IMHO. XM technology rarely fades out on me while Sirius does all the time (yes I've diddled the antennas, it's those wandering Sirius satellites). XM has a better form of awfully compressed sound that you suffer on either sat system. Your ears may disagree.
