Hi!

I just found a new / second release at amazon.com (release date 21.07.2009).

Maybe a BR with better audio (the first release only has dolby digital)?????

Any info available?????

I remember playing it before I built my theater. I was watching it with the audio gear I was collecting for the theater, so I had a big SVS sub sitting in the living room. When the robots walked, their footfalls rattled stuff on the mantle, the floor vibrated and it gave the impression they were just outside.

Good Stuff.

Paramount reissued a group of BRs and this was one of them. I read that these were from the initial batch they pulled off shelves when they bailed out on BR back then and now they are reissuing those previously pulled releases. Same thing, nothing changed from what I have read.

According to the Amazon image they did bother to change the front cover slightly.

Probably just a coincidence, but the re-release date of Disturbia now with movie cash roughly coincides with the overseas release that has TrueHD unlike the domestic.

Hmm...

The "new" cover, the one on amazon, is the cover paramount used before they pulled the titles. The ones after they went Blu again omitted the little border. So you're probably right.

On the other hand Paramount might be making new SKUs to pair these with Movie Cash for GI Joe.
That's going to be one hell of a demo disc, the movie doesn't look bad either.

Sky Captain + Lossless = me buying this, uneven, film again for the 4th or 5th time.

There are two different encodes of this. The HD DVD was VC-1 while the BD is MPEG2. On my system I couldn't distinguish between them. Theoretically they could utilize the VC-1 encode for a new BD (not sure there's anything to be gained PQ-wise, though).

(Both versions had DD 5.1 and DTS-HD 5.1.)

Still, I find it unlikely that Paramount will quietly remaster the BD for a new release. We'd have heard about it.

What aspect ratio is this movie? Blu-ray.com and Netflix show it as 1.78, but the review on blu-ray.com specifically says it's 2.35????
