In the market for a good set of L & R floor standing speakers ($3000).

Aperion Verus Grand is getting some really good reviews. B&W CM9, 683 & Definitive BP 8080ST audition well..Paradigm and Monitor is on my audition list.


BUT, to be really honest, I am hoping to find something that sounds good, looks good and more importantly, is BIG\\TALL\\MASSIVE - BIGGER FOOTPRINT which is counter to what most people want today ;-


I have an open floor plan and it would be great to have some massive looking speakers.

Ex: Dynaudio Confidence or Evidence types.


Those are from a different planet and way out of my league, but hope it's ok to "want" similar looking big speakers at my price point.


All the speakers I have reviewed so far are max 4ft tall .


Do i continue to dream

Klipsch La Scalas are exactly what you want. You can find them used for $3K.

I was going to say la scalas too. You can find the older version much cheaper than 3k if he goes used. I'm seeing $800 for a pair close by on craigslist

They are over 4' tall if he converts them into JubeScalas with the large K402 horn.

- Honestly speaking, the La Scalas don't quite fit-in. It's a little too short and also not that great looking. Sorry

- Philharmonic audio seems to be at the price point, so will review.

- Jamos R909 look quite slick , but way beyond price point.

- See some good stuff on Audiogon too.


Will keep looking.

People usually live w/ big floorstanders because sound is the driving criteria.

Prices for the new Infinity Preludes have come down quite a bit in the past few months. They have the same flat panel mid range drivers as in the Cascades that I have. They are very good.

Infinity Prelude. They are 'only' 5'3" high though.


Or a pair of Revel Salon2's if you have the $s.
