Sleek Floorstanding Speakers (pair) for under $200

Hi, I am looking for a pair of very sleek looking floorstanding speakers under 200 dollars. I have looked at polk monitor 50s and liked them. but still wanted to know if there are sleeker looking speakers out there. Although good sound quality is required, what's more important is the look of it since its for my mom's living room and she absolutely hates the box look of most speakers and tends to like floor-standing speakers that often comes with some htib but she doesn't like their quality.

she is in a budget of under 400, and i am thinking of getting her a sony STRDH520 receiver under 200 since all her equipments are sony and bravia sync compatible.

Pioneer SP-FS51-LR sound pretty good & are within your budget. Check if you like the looks.

Thank you very much. I will email these pics to her.

On the mean time, i have a noob question i can use that receiver with just two speakers even though it says 7.1, right?? specially without a center speaker..

Yes. You can use 2 speakers just fine.
Me and a friend picked up a pair of those Pioneers for his basement and they sound great, properly set up of course.
^^^^

So you are going to suggest what he himself already brought up in his own starting post...

Brilliance.

Here's another, a bit over, but they gorgeous...

So you are going to double his budget?

Briliance.
Have you looked to see what you can get used in your area for $200?

People are always upgrading and you can get great deals used.
Ahh, I did misread.

$400 is supposed to include the receiver(thought the last bit was $400 for speakers and then a receiver, to make $600)

You want sleek and $200 total?

The Polk M50 is all there is.

The BIC DV64 isn't even that cheap.

Check these out - eD A4.mtm . $30 over budget but free shipping might balance it out...

Those look more like monitor than floorstanders
Who know the OP might just go with it.

Even Walmart has the Sony STR-DH810 for $198 and the STR-DH710 for $188. You might even get some better prices on those receivers if you keep looking.

Forgot to add, here's another vote for the Pioneers.
Check this out in case you guys start to think of opening up the budget a bit more, and going more of the HT thing...It will pay for it self in no time in movie tickets.

True but if you pop them on some stands you pretty much get the same thing. Also "sleek looking" floorstanding speakers for $200 might be difficult even if the sound quality is fine. I really like the look of the eD's.

True - but stands eat a large part of a $200 budget...

..unless there is already furniture that could be used as stands.
If sleek is more important than performance maybe these Energy WS60 speakers will do the trick?

Nah. Go for the industrial look and it'll hardly dent the budget!

Don't get me wrong they do look sweet, but some folks tend to shy away from monitors thinking they inferior to floor standing speakers..When it could be the opposite..Also some might think they don't blend well with the decor, as they see the stands as another hindering crutch.
