You might look at the Classico CL3 or Classico CL4 from Gallo Acoustics ( http://www.roundsound.com/ ).
It's not obvious from the pictures but they are surprising small - the CL3 is only 31" tall and the CL4 is only 35" tall - so they might pass the WAF. Both, especially the CL4, are noted for remarkable bass from a speaker that size, and the overall sound is excellent. (Whenever I finally set up a dedicated music room they will be on my short list.)
They have a 60 day return policy (free shipping both ways).
