Slingbox and Xlobby mediaserver

I just purchased my 2nd Slinbox and attached it to one of my laptops (via a $90 VGA to S-video adapter) running Xlobby. I can use the Xlobby webclient in a small window to control the mediaserver and now I have full access to my ripped DVD and mp3 collection! Everything would be perfect (I have an upgraded broadband connection giving me > 2Mbps upload), except that the steam from my laptop is under 450 Kbps (typically below 300 Kbps). Comparitively, my other Slingbox has streams up to 1500 Kbps with the digital cable box. If I could improve the stream on my mediaserver, things would be awesome.
