What are your current speakers?
What are your current speakers?Hi! I have sourced out a couple of speakers and was hoping you could give me some input on which speakers gives the most bang for the buck here in Sweden!
I will have them as a 2.0 setup with my TV but music is where I care the most for the sound. I listen to a lot of acoustic music but what i want the most is a fast, punchy/hard bass for electronic music (this is what my current speakers lack).
Some old Dynavoice challanger S-6. A cheap, obscure Swedish brand.. Basically huge "bookshelf" speakers, 6.5inch with dual tweetersWhat are your current speakers?
If music is important, I'd narrow down the list to Monitor audio and Q acoustics. If you're buying without hearing them first, Q acoustics 3050 is the safer bet.Hi! So heres what the pricing looks like in Sweden:
Xtz spirit 11 is on sale for 4500kr
Monitor Audio Bronze 5 6000kr
q acoustics 3050 7000kr
Klipsch Reference R-610F 4000kr
Jamo s 805 3000kr
Jamo s 807 6000kr

Of course you recommend the most expensive ones hehe!If music is important, I'd narrow down the list to Monitor audio and Q acoustics. If you're buying without hearing them first, Q acoustics 3050 is the safer bet.
The Elac debut will have a more relaxed presentation. If you listen to alot faster upbeat music, the Q acoustics will be more lively and more exciting. The Elac debut are good speaker though.Of course you recommend the most expensive ones hehe!
Yeah no nearby hi-fi store has any of the speakers in store for listening.. I heard they removed the monitor audio bronze from listening because everyone found them way to bright so they didn't sell..
Oh, these are available also:
Elac FS 77 7000kr
Elac debute F5.2 8000kr
Thanks for your input!
Are Canton's available around you? Very good speakers made in Germany. The Canton Chrono floorstanding speakers are probably in your price range.Of course you recommend the most expensive ones hehe!

I missed canton completely! There are loads of them:Look for Canton in your area -- and I would keep XTZ on a short list
Numbers is for the model ID -- the Canton Chrono is an upper-level series over the GLE seriesI missed canton completely! There are loads of them:
Canton Chrono 509 DC 5300kr
Canton GLE 490 7000kr
Canton Chrono 517 7000kr
Canton GLE 496.2 8000kr
Canton GLE 496 8000kr
Canton Chrono 70 8000kr
Canton GLE 476.2 8300kr
No idea what all the numbers stands forDifference between GLE and Chrono?
Xtz are most known for their subs as far as i understand? Are their speakers well repuded? XTZ spirit 11 was 8000kr and is now on sale for 4500kr
The Chrono 509 or XTZ Spirit at the very nice pricing you posted.Hi! I have sourced out a couple of speakers and was hoping you could give me some input on which speakers gives the most bang for the buck here in Sweden!

XTZ makes a lot of speakers and they are well reviewed and known for good work -- the same with Canton, and with the Canton, I would look at the Chrono 509
Thanks for you input! I've been reading some reviews and doing some thinking. Both the q acoustics and the XTZs are a just a bit to big depth-wise.The Chrono 509 or XTZ Spirit at the very nice pricing you posted.

Do you think a bookshelf-speaker will produce enough bass for me in my room? (3.8x4.6m) How much difference in the punch do you think it is between say the spirit 4 bookshelf and the spirit 11 floorstanding?
The thing about my current bookshelf-speakers is that they go deep enough in the bass if i bass-boost them a little on the amplifier, its just that they are SOO uneven. In most song theres no punch in the bass, and in some songs and especially in movies they really come alive. I guess the frequency-response isnt that flat? They do deep bass pretty well, but the kick-bass in songs not so well.
I've also looked on the second hand-market and the q acoustic 3050 are also on sale for 5500kr now. These are the alternatives now:
Q acoustics 3050 5500kr
Xtz spirit 11 4500kr
Xtz spirit 4 3000kr
monitor audio silver rx6 4400kr
Tannoy Mercury V4i 2000/2700kr
They are just a bit too big, might look strange in the room. But if floorstanders makes a huge difference from comparable bookshelfs its worth it, do they?Q Acoustics and XTZ are still on your list though you said they are too big/deep so I'm a bit confused.
The Monitor Audios would be a great choice.
True, i have them as far out from the wall as possibly without looking too silly, but its still only 15-20 cm out from the wall. Can you put the speakers closer to the wall if you plug the ports? If these speakers are "too deep", that tells me you want to shove them up against a wall. Not a good way to treat your speakers. Most speakers love a bit a room around them, some more than others. If you are limited to backs against the wall, then you should not consider floorstanding speakers, as you will end up with boomy bass. Better to go with front-ported bookshelf speakers in that configuration, and live with the lack of bass. Better no bass than boomy bass.
The Monitor Audio punch WAY above the weight class IMO. They sounded phenomenal for their size.
Thanks!Monitor Audio Silver bookshelf will have some nice bass

To have the punchy bass you are looking for in a bookshelf it would need at least as large a driver as your current 6.5" main driver in your bookshelves.
