I just ordered a second NAD 320bee integrated amp for my office. As it will take about 2 weeks to arrive at the dealer, they loaned me an Onkyo 8011 stereo amp for the time being.

Well, this is one impressive little stereo receiver. Driving a pair of JBL S38s, it sounds incredible. Very authoritative bottom end, not harsh or strident, lively and perhaps a tad dry. Not fatiguing at all. Actually reminds me quite a bit of the 320. I used Hiromi's "Brain" CD (very interesting young jazz pianist), which may be the finest example of the recording of an acoustic piano I've ever heard, fed through an NAD CD player. Great stuff.

I guess it really is much easier to make a musical stereo receiver than a musical AVR! And inexpensive, too; I think it retails for around $150. I think I'll stick with my NAD, but this Onkyo is stellar for the price.

I know this isn't big news, but I had to tell someone!
