Smaller 26" to 42" flatscreens with good video de-interlacing?

If I want to pick up a small widescreen TV to replace a simple 20" 4:3 bedroom CRT that I normally use for very casual TV watching, are there certain models which have good video de-interlacing? Although I will watch a fair amount of 4:3 TV on this 20" and would continue to do so with the flatscreen, I would get a widescreen for when I get HDTV upstairs (possibly an antenna and/or service) and I will watch the odd dvd/BD movie on it too. I may not use HDTV on this bedroom set for a while though. Looking mostly at 32" or larger flatscreen TV's. LCD from 26" to 42" and 42" Plasma's.

Assuming a 720p resolution or better, at 42" or less, differences in de-interlacing will be all but indistinguishable from more than a foot or two away. I'd be more interested in the basic differences between plasma and LCD and of course the quality of broadcast processing. Angle of viewing, that sort of thing.

Just stick to the top brands (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Toshiba, Sharp) and you'll be fine. Most of the modern LCD and Plasma displays have the interlacing issue licked. You may run into it every once in a while (I do, but its pretty rare) but for the most part it shouldn't be an issue.
I guess the newer models are better. Sometimes in a bar or store with what looks like a modern flatscreen, I still see stair-stepping, jaggies and/or softness. I know, it's lower end stuff and can't be perfect. What's funny is that I don't think even an old iScan would help since they were better at film than video, iirc.
