Smokin' Aces prequel, straight to DVD...HD DVD?

Found this article on IGN, don't think it's been posted

Confirms that a prequel will be made, albeit straight to DVD. This is excting because the original director will have his hands in it and mentions he will take advantage of the lack of a rating system required for theatrical releases.

Whatever reluctance I have is alleviated by the fact that we can really do this balls out, hardcore prequel and not be constrained by ratings or any other puritanical MPAA bullsh*t" - Joe Carnahan

This may not be directly HD DVD related but one would assume with the success of Smokin' Aces on DVD/HD DVD, they will almost certainly release the prequel on HD DVD as well.

I'll be sure to keep my eyes open for more news on this. I am so stoked about potentially seeing more of the Tremor Bros!!!

I want my money back after blind buying this POS. That was quite possibly, the worst movie I've ever seen.

Admittedly it's not for everyone, but for a balls-out action movie, I was quite entertained. Probably my favorite HD DVD, has great replayability. But I know where you're coming from. I know a lot of people who hated it, but just as many, if not more who loved it. I haven't heard a single "meh"...

I liked the movie, great fun to watch. The only problem i have with this being direct to DVD is that the production will not be as good.

i thought this movie was competent, and didn't understand the backlash... i liked the fact that you just didn't know who was going to die and when - all bets were off.

Guess you haven't seen, "The Fountain" yet...

I enjoyed this movie and look forward to checking this prequel out.

Hopefully the prequel wont be 90 minutes of awesomness and 2 minutes of totally retarded ending like the first one was.

I would rather have "Narc" from Carnahan then this crap on HD-DVD. I was very dissapointed, now he's doing a sequel[prequel]? ........... well.......... enjoy!

I thought SA was entertaining. I even watched it for a second time with a bunch of friends and they all like it a lot.

Yeah it seems to be a good movie to watch with a group of people. I watched it with 4 of my friends and it was a great time.

This has been the only disc in my HD-DVD collection thus far (Not a huge collection yet, but have about 50 discs or so) that has had multiple viewings. Loved everything about it.

I would LOVE to own NARC as well. That would be awesome.

Haven't see SA yet but I'd welcome a prequel. This isn't the type of movie that is laden with CGI so even with a lower budget they could deliver something cool.
