Hey guys. I've been planning to buy Wario Ware since before the Wii came out, but this review has me thinking twice. I've never owned any of the previous games in the series, but I did play the GC version a little and it seemed like fun. Of course that game was only $30 and this new one is $50. What do you guys think? I've really wanted something new to play on the Wii as it's just kind of been sitting there for a while and, though I never would have thought this possible, I'm playing a lot more on my new 360.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still very excited about upcoming games like Mario Party, Mario Galaxy, Metroid 3, et al, but getting back to my point I'm wondering if Wario Ware is going to be worth a buy next week.

From the sounds of that review, and others, I wouldn't say it's worth $50. Maybe when it drops to $30 or if you can get a deal. I've liked the other Warioware games but Touched on the DS got annoying with all the forced cutscenes and uber-short gameplay. There wasn't much variety or many microgames at all for that matter. Seems like the Wii version shares that problem.

Funny you mention those three games ... they're pretty much the only games worth buying (for me anyway) in the next year. I ended up returning my Wii because it was collecting dust after Zelda. I can't help but think that Mario and Metroid will be significantly delayed. If you look at the Wii release list for the next year those are the 3 major first party titles, plus Smash Bros (if it hasn't slipped to 2008 without me noticing). That's it. There are some smaller titles, and a bunch of 3rd party ports, but unless Nintendo has some magic titles up its sleeve that it hasn't announced for this first year I think I can hold off until those games hit the Players Choice price level.

That's what I'd recommend for Warioware. Enjoy your 360 until the Wii prices come down or Nintendo releases one of their AAAs. Probably going to take a while.

I'm sure that Mario Party will be fun, and that will be coming in March. Have to wait and see on other stuff, but it seems to be par for the course these days in terms of new systems. It took the 360 a year to get Gears of War and from what I read a lot of people were frustrated at the lack of good games. The PS3 sure doesn't have any killer apps on the horizon, at least ones that suit my taste.

But yeah, I'm thinking of skipping Wario Ware.

Wario Ware is a must buy. The games are an absolute blast and you must play them to fully understand why they're so great. The 2 GBA incarnations were fantastic. The DS version was decent, but not quite as good as the GBA ones. The Wii version looks to really take things even further with all the crazy things you can do with the controller.

I am definitely picking this one up next week.

Gamespot just gave it a 9.1, so it depends who you ask. If you plan to play alone, I can understand your concerns. But if you plan to play with friends, it's a no-brainer IMO. That is IF you get into the series. Some people simply don't get it, and some, like me, live for the series.

I was able to play a demo (up to the first boss stage) version of Smooth Moves at the Nintendo Fusion tour a few months back. My wife and I clearly felt it was the best game there. The other games were Wii Sports Tenis, Wii Sports Bowling, and Excite Truck -- in other words, the focus was clearly on the new controller scheme and hyper gameplay games.

Of course, the Fusion tour was basically a "stand in line 30-45 minutes watching others, play game for 8-12 minutes, rinse and repeat" sort of deal, so I really ended up logging only 20 minutes or so with Smooth Moves that night. It was certainly awesome for 20 minutes, and I enjoyed watching others play it for over an hour as well. Probably not the best indicator of long-term worth though.

Most of the people I talked to there also said they enjoyed Smooth Moves the most and were unhappy that it was no longer a launch title. I suppose it all comes down to if you're willing to trust the opinion of people who paid $25 a piece for a chance to play the Wii two weeks before everyone else (the Denver tour was two weeks before launch) . Not exactly represenative of the typical gamer.

Im enjoying Warioware for what its worth. The two mini-games (not Micro games!) I've unlocked so far are entertaining in their own right.

One of them has several odd shaped blocks falling from the sky and you delicately control a platform and have to try and stack them without them falling off. The 50 levels of that only took me a couple of hours, but it was enjoyable theraputic fun.

The other one has me bouncing a ball with a tabletennis bat and trying to make my way up a tower (the screen scrolls constantly upwards). getting in the way are various types of block (a la Arkanoid) and my own shaky hands!. Nice delicate control again.. fun.

If you've not played Warioware games before (and if you've played one, you'll know what to expect) try downloading the GBA one and an emulator and giving it a quick blast, or picking up the GC version for very little cash. If you like either or both, you should love the new one.

Of course, it also depends on how you like to spend your gaming cash. I'll personally buy anything Im going to like, pretty much regardless of longevity.. If you're a bit more frugal, this title will perhaps disapoint, as would any of the other versions. They all remain fun after playing all the microgames, but the returns do diminish from there onwards. Also.. if you're making a fool of yourself in front of friends or family, the fun increases

Like someone said previously, its a love or hate thing! I have to fight to keep the grin off my face

I will probably mostly play it by myself and with my wife if she likes it.

I did play the GC version a little bit at work, but I never owned it. There was a mode where the characters danced and then somebody had to do a micro game. It was pretty fun.

I'm definitely more of a frugal guy when it comes to spending $$. And I am worried about the longevity of the title.

I'm thinking about picking it up again. I'll read that gamespot review. Thanks guys.
