snowy reception when recording

I have one channel that will only come in as snow when recording on my Replay 5504 that has been modded to a 250 GB hard drive. However, the channel will record just fine if I turn on my TV. I believe that I must have enough signal loss to cause this to happen, but I have no real answer as to how to correct the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
