I would think that the only person capable and that might be willing to do it is Tom Strade, have you asked him?


I would think, though, that now that Immersive has been lifting off, messing about with this mod would not fit his schedule, though.


I really can't see anyone else doing that.


Regarding a DVI output - I wouldn't think that this is likely to happen. DVI is more than just a method to communicate pixels over a link. You really need the participation of the firmware in order to do that.


However, I think that it's quite likely we'll see a DVI enabled Faroudja powered scaler at one point or another. They may add it to their higher end systems before the NRS, though - to give them additional advantage over the NRS (which I would think is seriously denting their DVP3000 and DVP5000 sales).
