Possibly with openelec you could pull this off. With xp you won't get hardware acceleration and probably be limited to 720p.

So I have this old PC and I need a media streamer

Those are the glorious specs! I did mention its an old PC.... I believe the ram is upgradeded to 1 gb and I dont know if it could be upgraded further.
IF I change out the following-
1) video card to one with HDMI
2) add wifi dongle for conection to airport extreme and NAS drive that contains movies
Then could I run XBMC on a senondary TV?

Ubuntu???....you might have a chance.

XP really sucks on those old PC's... If anything, with Ubuntu you will have a really nice web-crawler.
