I have the Sony VPL-AW10 projector. I want to find a good place to buy a replacement bulbs on the cheap. I have searched several places including the online stores I normally shop at "newegg,B&H"

Where is the "SECRET" online store for buying cheap bulbs that all you here know about??

IF this thread is in the wrong place, forgive me and please place it where it should be...thanks

I do not think that there is a "secret" online store with cheap bulbs. Projectors use bulbs, and those bulbs are expensive.

The only two cheap ways of getting bulbs are:

1) Buy non-branded bulbs. This is hit or miss.

2) Buy just the bulb and replace it in your housing. This is also hit or miss.

So unless someone can correct me, I think that the best prices you find on pricegrabber or mysimon are the best you can get.

Why is replacing JUST the bulb in my own housing "hit or miss?" What makes it difficult?

It is a lot more difficult than simply replacing the whole housing. Also the source of the bulb might not be the same one as the OEM of the bulb. Just because it is a specific specification bulb, does not mean it is the same.

A GE 60 watt bulb is different than a Sylvania 60 watt bulb. Same as for projector bulbs. If you can get the EXACT brand/model that the OEM uses, then fine, but that is difficult.

..Well im not in the market as of yet, but just looking and getting as much info as I can for when the time comes. Gonna grap one wiht some income tax next year. IM tired of not using my prjector cause im too broke to replace the bulb..lol

I dont trust buying from *bay and I would never trust anything shipping from japan. Buying online is tricky enough here in the states. BUT thanks a lot for the post..

Pity for you. There isn't anything tricky to it.

FWIW, I don't point people to places that I've never dealt with successfully. To each their own though. Good Luck.

If anyone else is interested and knows how *bay works, this seller is stellar, rarely does any seller that has over 11K feedbacks have 100% rating.

Dont matter anyways, they dont have any now. Might check back when im ready.

Dont get offensive though as *bay is very hit and miss. Many scamers on there. I have been taken 1 time in the past..

Not being offensive...of course you always have to be smart about buying online.

If anyone wants one, they do have one. Not only have I bought from them, but I've pm'd others who've bought from them too.

Use bing cashback to get the best savings too and sign up for *bay bucks if you can.
