New to this whole thing and been trying to get in on the learning curve. I'm not out to get movie theater sound quality. My wife and I are getting on in years and our hearing is not what it used to be. I have heard
that with a 5.1 system you can separate the dialog portion of a TV program to make it louder than the background sounds. That is my goal, to enhance the dialog.

What kind of a system would I have to put on my Sony Bravia to be able to do that?

Ad of coarse I'd like to keep the price as reasonable as possible.

If you want an entry level 5.1 system (receiver and speakers only), Yamaha, Onkyo, and Denon make some very respectable systems for around $500 or less brand new. The speakers are decent for what they are (bookshelf-sized) but do sound quite nice if you're not an audiophile.
