As far as my own predicitons: When will they change to another style interconnect you ask? To which I say "The very moment the HDMI encryption is cracked". Its just so funny. I have yet to see a perfect copy protection scheme that was unable to be broken. While on the subject, I think its so funny that they don't allow upconversion over analog connections for fear of copying, but once the HDMI encryption is broken, it will be a non-issue for the analog portion. You will be able to get bit-perfect copies thru the digital connection.
Anyway, since the latest talk seems to be about "TrueHD", which I belive is some sort of lossless compression for audio, the next logical step in my mind is lossless video compression.
Oh well, those are just some random thoughts of mine anyway.
