I finally got the new Star Trek on Blu Ray last week and watched it on Friday. Wow is all I have to say about that, great movie and great sound and PQ as well. However this has rekindled my interest in the older Star Trek movies. Ive seen a few of them and bits and pieces of others. I would like to pick them up on Blu Ray eventually. Problem is Ive been reading that the Transfers aren't that great. Lots of DNR and things like that.

Basically with that are they still worth buying? I would most likely wait for a decent deal.

Is there a chance or rumor that there may be a better quality release coming out or possibly a better quality one available somewhere else as an import? Because I surely can wait if somethings on the horizon, I'm in no hurry.

Considering Paramount's track record with multiple releases with STAR TREK and the fact that they didn't release any of the films in their "director's" incarnations and ST:TMP is very different, I would thibk there might be a re-release down the pike. It looks like Paramount is remastering Gladiator so it is possible. I bought TWOK and First Contact but am holding out on the rest.
