Now pardon my ignorance, is this a 7.1 HTIB, that cannot receive a 7.1 signal? I thought 7.1 was only a hdmi 1.3 audio thing?


Or can one get a 7.1 signal from say an optical connection.

You can get 7.1 source material via coax, optical and analog. Finding 7.1 source material is a different story. Your receiver will also accept a wide variety of input material and up mix it to 5.1 - 6.1 - 7.1 depending on your listening preferences and the source.
