These lenses are color corrected so maybe you could get away with substitution of the colored cooling liquid in the green and red tubes for neutral liquid?

What is this cooling liquid?? Some sort of silicone oil? Where to get it?

Have anybody experience with HD-144 in a SONY?

I think you should try it. It would be an easy cheat to get more light out of that little pj. The coolant is for sale from Spatz site in Germany I think, maybe www.crtcinema.com too. I think its ethylene glycol, but not sure. It is NOT baby oil(someone tried that).

I put a set of the color corrected lenses into my 1030, and am extremely pleased with the results.

They drop right in, but you will have to redo your grayscale. Skintones have never looked better on the sony. The coolant can be ordered here:

Just finished realigning my SONY 1030 with the new HD-144 lenses on...........WOW!

After some inital problems with focus in the corners of the picture, I decided (after advise from Tinmann-- thank you!) to take the hole thing down and apart and start all over:

New ceiling mount adjustable in all directions.

Resetting all controls to mid position and starting from here.

Resetting the PJ to 100" and here maybe was the biggest difference!

The thing is that I had, after purchasing the pj, changed it to 72" as this was my screen at tht time. But apparently I had misunderstood the manual thinking that I just had to change the rings to 72" and removing the 0.8 mm spacers at the tubes. But the trapezoid spacers behind the blue and red should be different too. I didn't notice this before with the TAC-II lenses, but the HD-144 lenses made it all too clear that something was wrong.

Now there is no problems achieving focus in the corners - in fact I can clearly see the black gabs between the scanning lines at 1024x500 even in the corners!!!

So now it is 960x540 I use, but I am not finished experimenting with this - I am busy watching movies!

So nice skin colors!

Such deeep colors!

Sooo many details!

And plenty of brightness in my totally dark room even at 195,5X110 cm screen!

My NEC is out of service. While retubing my 9 PG Plus it was discovered that one of the new tubes was defective. While waiting for the replacement, I decided to set up my backup PJ (ECP 2500) that has all new 07MS tubes in it. The lenses were off the PG so I decided to try them on the ECP. The color is great. Still not as good as the NEC but much better than it was with the original lenses. After about a four hour setup with great attention paid to stig, flare electrical and mechanical focus, the resulting image was better than I had expected. As Marc noted, the grayscale needs to be done. 1080I while not even close to the sharpness of the NEC still beat any store bought display I've seen to date.

Something about busting up NEC's to make old Sony, Barco and ECP's look better bothers me. I've got it...

I'll sell you the lenses but the rest of the projector comes with them.

Marc,

Wait untill all those parts chassis become available for $50.00 ea.

I just bought a 135XG with no lenses for $75.00

Just kidding
