Sony 1270Q won't power on

I've seen some threads on this before, but not a solution that works for me.

My cooling fans work, but when I try to power on, the projector hums for about a second, then off. Before, it would sometimes run for a few minutes, then turn off, so I suspected the thermal protection circuit. Now, nuttin'.

It is ceiling-mounted, so taking it down will be a hassle. I'd rather be able to troubleshoot it first.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Without a meter and service manual (and taking it down) you're kinda stuck. The 1270 has no internal LED to give hints as to where the problem is, and this problem can be due to ANY board in the set. The most common boards to fail are the two right under the top cover, see here:

you can send those boards to me for testing if you want, I have a 1270 test chassis here.
