I notice that when projecting any kind of text, titles and credits, the text very noticably flickers to a point where it is kind of annoying. Any other image looks fine. The tubes have roughly 5,000 hours on them. I read somewhere that the reason for flicker could be degrading components of the PJ. I don't want to scrap this PJ. However, does this flicker problem indicate that I should look to get another PJ?

How long have you had this 1272?

The projector is not good for viewing text. I mean maximum resolution is something like if you could read text from 800 x 600 computer output the machine is okay.

Definately 1272 is for watching moviews.

Yes you could spend time adjusting more but don't expect too much.

Thanks.

The flicker occurs when I am using S-video; however, as I just got an HTPC, the flicker problem has diminished to almost nothing. Thanks to this forum, I was able to use an HPTC system.
