I wanted to clean the back of the lens and also have spotted some guk perhaps in the CRT (green). Any tips on how to remove the lens. I've looked at what I need to do but it seems like a very formidable job. The problem I foresee is taking the bottom screws out, as some of them are blocked out by a circuit board and wires. Help!

akoay,

its an easy job. you need a 10-12" screwdriver. the whole power supply assembly comes right out and then its out of your way. if any of the lens screws start to strip (they can be hard to remove because of the heat), replace them with new ones, never put the 1/2 striped ones back in, because then they will never come out the next time.

go to a camera shop and get lens tissue and liquid cleaner.

good luck

Thanks Oscar, Is the power supply that circuit board in the bottom of the lens? It looks like it's held together by white fasterners

thanks again, I did just that and lo and behold - I was able to clean those lenses. My next project would be to replace the green CRT; is that a DIY job?
