When I look into the CRT's with just a white screen, the blue and green CRT faces look like a solid color, but when I look at red it seems to have what I would call scan lines across the face. Can anyone explain this? Why would it be only on red and not blue or green? Is it fixable? Any help would be appreciated.
I am using a Sony VPH-1272. The blue and green tubes are brand new and the red has approximately 4400 hours on it. When looking at the H pattern I feel I am able to focus the blue and green better than the red. None of them was I able to focus to the point of seeing the lines that make up the letter H. I will be having Chris Collins come over to do a calibration on the projector, but am curious if this is a problem with the red. Thanks for the help.
Are the red scan lines, scan lines or retrace lines? Are the lines to which you refer tightly packed and horizontal or loosely packed and more diagonal? FYI, don't adjust the blue focus pot. If it the line you are seeing loose and diagonal, turn down the red gain. Can't advise you further on that because you haven't said what signal, if any.
Since you have a tech comming it doesn't much matter, but I'd make sure the gain controls aren't out of whack before running it much.
In your last post, were you looking in the lens or screen?
Thanks for the reply. I am running the DVD player through a Centerstage CS-1 outputting 720p during the setup. The lines that I see are packed pretty tight and are horizontal. I see this when looking, into the projector through the lens, at the CRT face. It is noticeable on the screen as well when there are white scenes. This projector is new to me and unfortunately I do not know a lot about it yet, but I am learning. Thanks again for the help.
