The calibrator is coming to my house today. I need your opinion. What is the best set for pro1 and pro2 -> Day and night or SDR and hdr? By the way, the Dolby set where do I memorise it? On “personal”? Thank you

I tried to do a 20 point cal, used point 17 (80% stimulus) and the adjustments didn't move the meter at all? Is point 17 80% ?

No, it should be 16.
100%=20, 95%=19, 90%=18, 85%=17....
But try setting contrast to 100 during grayscale manipulation.... if not already done. Please let me know if it helped you and your TV reacts correct on the changes.

Thanks, So contrast to 100 for all stimulus points? If I want to a quick WB check, should I pick 80% or 100% white? (16 or 20 point)

for a quick white point check if you want to call it like this - take the 2p controls gain on the 80% or the 100% - you will see what will be better at the curve displayed from your software e.g. calman.
don't take the 20p for this!!!!

I do it like this: I don't touch the 2p settings during my calibration session - I'll just use the 20p controls for 5%,10%,15%.... up to 100%. And for this I set contrast to 100.

I did, but not happy with it. I need to do again with contrast 100 to see if it really changes?

How do I adjust CMS? I have Chromapure. My yellow hue wanted 19 clicks away from green to get in the dot. Could that be right?

Officially we recommend never using the two point. He disagrees, That being said you can use whatever you want , you just need to understand the consequences and what happens to the other picture modes that share that color temperature preset.

Tyler, can you expand on the consequences? Is it just that you will be tied to the 2pt adjustments across picture modes and color temperature presets or is there anything else to consider? I was thinking of doing 2pt gain adjustments before autocal on my next calibration (2k hours), but I would like to understand the consequences.

I'm in the same boat. Black crush is just brutal in dark scenes on the A8H. I was just test watching The Descent........black crush was all over the place. Raising my black level a point or 2 helps but I did not pay 2 grand for this problem.

Is this a problem with this model across the board, or do some of us gotta play the 'panel lottery'?

I still have a couple months return window at Costco, but what is the point of getting a replacement if all the panels suffer from noise and crushing
I have the A8H in a dark room. Thinking of upgrading to the A90J as the A8H seems a little too dark. I would like the darker items (near black) to open up. Netflix has some pretty bad black crush in dark scenes, e.g. Jessica Jones. Might be Netflix?
But even Robert Zohn from Value Electronics says the A90J might be too bright for a dark room. Opinions please?

Don't get carried away by PR related numbers .. A8H is perfectly fine. Do you wanna wear sunglasses at explosions etc. Do you wanna replace a Tv not even a year old and pay big box for some incremental difference you probably won't even see .. then after a week when you have gotten used to that picture something new arrives and circle continues. Take it easy my man and buy something else nice for yourself.
