I've been reading a lot on burn in and how you should change up your viewing habits. I was going to be playing a lot games and viewing HD. How concerned should I be with burn in with this tv.

HD will fill your screen and quite a few older games will have widescreen options depending on the console, all new consoles games will be widescreen

I would not really worry about burn in from a still image from a video game too much

just do not leave a game paused from days with the TV on

I think you have a better chance of watching a lot of 4:3 content and causing burn in

and this is just very very unlikely as well

Alright ya Well I'll be playing all new games on the computer so that will fill screen for sure. As far as 4:3 I will zoom the image.. I don't care. I don't watch much 4:3 anyways....Nothing good on tv anyways

I watch a lot of 4:3 material and I simply use the normal mode

but I also watch a lot of widescreen content so there is a balance

you can stretch the image using widezoom, but I normaly only use the zoom for zooming on postage stamped material (black bars on all sides)

yeah it would be the same guide as when using analogue cable or over the air digital

the guide is simply channel based and does not list the current TV shows

but most TV shows should have program information once tuned

Tv should be here any day now. How do you suggest I use the tv the first couple hundred hours. Should I take it easy on the games? I read that the first couple hundred hours are crucial to be nice. But I don't understand if that apply's to the direct crt's.

simply take it out of Vivid mode, use pro mode and you may need to adjust the contrast and brightness slightly

turn Vivid mode contrast and brightness down to middle, so if you flip through the color modes, Vivid does not strain the display

I think you will be fine as far as gaming

burn in is not really an issue with directviews

How many times per week, on average, do you think we write those exact same words around here?

Get it calibrated. Your T.V. will look it's best, last longer, and be as safe as it can be from burn-in.

Alright got the tv. Greatness wow. Love it. But having some issue's with the computer and the tv together.

If I put my video card to 1080i everything gets realy realy small.

If I don't put it on 1080i a lot of my games don't work right at all. will only let me pick 800x600

In general non of my games fill the screen, cept for half life 2 and far cry. On 1080i my games let me select resolutions that should fit but they end up not fitting at all. Idk any suggestions or questions for me to help me out?

I was able to finaly get a dvd program to work on fullscreen

and guess what it wasnt a pay program it was this incredibly basic program, free.......

now if I could just get the games going...

is the problem because when I set up the tv with the video card I have to underscan to get it to fit?

So like the resolution on the tv realy isnt a perfect fit number so the games when seleted resolution realy isnt correct?

to play games widescreen, you will need to goto the widescreengamingforum.com

there they have a list of hacks to modify the game's ini file so you can play them widescreen

you will also need to modify the FOV to have the correct aspect ratio on the characters in the game

which also can be found at the WSGF

and text is tiny on at 1080i resolution, since its 1920x1080i on a 30" screen

games will be find on your CRT, but forget websurfing unless you like headaches from the flicker and squinting

So I should have the resolution up to 1080i? Even though theres little icons and its very flickery....

Fine by me I just didnt know if it was bad for the tv

So how long do you think it would take to burn in a set watching 4.3 not zoomed with blackbars on the side? Hours or days?

yeah 1080i is always like that but it will give the best image for media

I never tried gaming at 1080i as I figured my older PC could not handle it

(2.4 Ghz, 6800 NU), so I have done all my gaming at 720p (but instead of using 1280x720, I did use 1164x688, (I think) so the games fit my screen, no overscan)

but I view all my DVDs, recorded SDTV and HDTV at 1080i(1920x1080i) from my PC

alright what about this

resolution=1680x1050x32

what would 1080i be 1920x1080x___?

and if I underscan the computer a little bit when I put the resolution into the games should I do that resolution or the pure 1080i?

also how does the recorded hd tv look?.....
