Those of you that have this series TV and DishNet...

i just got my 50WE610 today and so far it's awesome... i only have a component cable right now, but was wondering if ya'll are getting the best HD/SD pic quality with the DVI connection? and are you setting the DishNetwork setup to display 720p or 1080i from the menu?

any comments would be appreciated.

I have the same setup with the 811 receiver. Saw the biggest improvement going from s video to component. From component to DVI not that big of an improvement. Do UMR's tweaks to get your best picture then compare 720P and 1080i to see which you prefer. Currently I am using 720P.

thanks.... i have the 811 as well. i hooked up the component cable that came with the 811 until i can get a better one... that's why i was wondering if i should start with a good component cable or DVI cable first. i am about to perform the UMR tweaks tonight. i hope they work as well as people write about them.. the picture looks great so any improvement is a bonus.

Note that you will get the best picture quality for HD channels when the 811 / 921 does no conversion at all, so that means if you are watching a 720p source, have it output at 720p, and if you are watching a 1080i source, output at 1080i. Of course, most people don't exactly want to constantly change this setting back and forth, so leaving it set to the resolution of the majority of the HD channels you watch is probably the easiest thing to do as a compromise (until, if ever, the receivers get a firmware upgrade to pass the signal through unmolested).

For up-converted SD, both 720p and 1080i seem to provide about the same quality on my KF-50WE610 and Dish 921 (via DVI).
