I just bought a 55EX723 and notice when I turn the backlight all the way to max I notice a little light leakage in the corners. I love the TV and won't even have it set to max, but I just want to make sure this isn't an issue that will lead to other things in the future. I currently have the backlight set to 5 and think that is about right for me. Might be a tiny bit of leakage on compeltely black scenes, but nothing I would even notice if I wasn't thinking about what I saw on max.


Is this normal when you set the backlight to max? I don't want to go through the hassle of returning the TV, but now is obviously the time if this is not normal for this set. Thanks in advance for the input. I am very satisfied with my purchase other than this question.

I have just posted the answer to your question in another thread. See the photo I attached, it explains the core issue and applies to LED and CCFL light sources in LCD TV's. Should you try another TV? It’s a lottery, unfortunately…. Or you can fix the issue yourself if you know what you’re doing….

So what I am hearing is that many (or even most) in these new sets see this at some level and just live with it? Thinking it is not worth my time to do an exchange if I will get the same thing, or possibly even worse.

You shouldn't set your backlight to max at all. But yes light leakage is pretty common on Edge LED's.
