I just bought this system a week ago and finished setting it up 2 days ago. This system is great for an apartment or smaller environment. The speakers are soo cute *cough* I mean awesome! They actually sound pretty good. The system came with a microphone that is used to calibrate the speakers when you turn it on for the first time. I have found one kinda big complaint already and I have email tech support at Sony. The system fails to display an image when playing dvds from 20th Century Fox (Horton Hears a Who, X-Men 3.....). Sound is there and sometimes you will get a menu screen flickering to life, but for the most part, a blank screen. All other dvds have been playing just fine as well every blu-ray I have thrown at it (I have tried about a dozen dvds and 6 different brays). I will of course try more as time goes on.
So, in short, the speakers in my opinion are excellent for a smaller environment. If you have a huge collection of dvds you are attached to....be prepared for some dissapointment. 20th Century Fox makes up about 1/8 of my collection and so far none of them have played properly. (only 4 have been tried so far and all have failed, I do not believe it is a coincidence) Hopefully Sony will respond soon with a fix. Oh, and the firmware is up to date on it.
