I have a Sony Bravia 720p that I bought a little over a year ago, and it's a fantastic TV. However, recently I have been noticing more and more that the black levels seem really washed out compared to my CRT TV. I know that it's a problem with LCDs, so I was hoping for some advice on settings (brightness, contrast, backlight, etc) that might help to make them a little darker.

Thanks!

Lcd's are no where near the black levels of a crt. But you do get a much sharper picture, so as of right now, its a give and take thing with lcd's. Now you can play with settings to get it to look pretty good, search around for calibration settings, or buy a calibration disc.

Although expensive, the new LED LCD's are bringing LCDs very close to CRT blacks. Hopefully the price will come down though in the next few years.
