My girlfriend and I just moved in together. About the same time my toshiba dvd/vcr player crapped out. She has the sony bravia DAVHDX501. I just purchased a Vizio 47" LCD Tv. I also have a nice Onkyo Digital receiver with 7.1 with all nice polk audio speakers. I really dont need the cheap speakers with the kit. So I hooked up the sony bravia DAVHDX501 with a HDMI cable...I get no sound. I went through the setup on the sony bravia DAVHDX501 and really did not find anything. All the digital audio on the back of the player refer to "in". I currently have the directv HD DVR hooked up through hdmi. Then I have the Vizio TV send the digital signal to the Onkyo receiver. Works great with sat. I got nothin with the sony bravia DAVHDX501. Any ideas or is this HTIB only setup to use its own speakers?

My old PS2 just doesnt do DVD's any justice. The sony bravia DAVHDX501 looked pretty good with the HDMI. I know I really need to buy a PS3 and be done with it....but I got to save toward a nice ring.

You need to specify what cables you are connecting and FROM and TO which device you are talking about.


If you have an Onyko 7.1 with Polk speakers...why are you messing around with the SONY HTIB??? Are you just using it to upconvert dvd to 1080p?


The only outputs these things have are for their own speakers.
