Great news. They are a very solid developer. I enjoyed inFamous a lot and will definitely get I2 someday.
Awsome purchase, one of my favorite devs, love the infamous franchise.
So that's a purchase of Media Molecule back in March? April? Now Sucker Punch. Congrats to both companies.

Infamous is an awesome game.. and Infamous 2 was even better.

Congrats to Sucker Punch.
I just finished my first playthough of InFAMOUS last night, and while I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped I would (I had trouble getting into the story with all the side missions and hunting for 350 shards), it was definitely a quality game (even the end credits were nicely done), and I look forward to more exclusives from them in the future.
I played inFAMOUS and inFAMOUS 2 back to back. Loved 'em. I think the sequel is the better of the two, but both are better than a lot of games out there.
Why are you guys cheering this? The vast majority of the time, when a giant publisher purchases an independent developer, the resulting product is of significantly lower quality than what the dev put out before the acquisition.

This thread is full of you guys saying "Yay! I look forward to Sucker Punch's title after next being of drastically lower quality!".

This is of course a pretty stupid thing to be cheering.

Which other 3rd party devs that Sony purchased then put out inferior rushed products?

While this may be true of other game developers, Sony has a pretty good track record of leaving them alone after purchase.
^ Bingo.

- Sony adds value to their console(s) with exclusive developers, which helps the base grow and attract more development in general.

- Sucker Punch gets stability, $$$$ up front, as well as full marketing support while retaining freedom during development.

- Playstation platform owners get games that make greater use of their console's specific abilities from the ground up compared to 99% of multi-platform titles.

Everybody wins.

Like Naughty Dog? I think you are bitter because MS lost/sold most of their first party devs. Now you are left with scant PC port "exclusives" and Kinect garbage.

As others have echoed.. Sony has a great track record when it comes to giving their first party studios a lot of autonomy and creative independence. That's the reason for the positive posts. A win-win situation for both companies.

Spot on.
I finished inFamous 3 days ago as EVIL,..It is pretty good. Might play as Hero someday.

I did try infamous 2 Demo and the improvement are great. Will definatly pick it up,....after I play some other games.

Good news for Sucker Punch btw.
I don't think this changes much except stability for Sucker Punch. They have only developed for Sony consoles and had no plans to change that. I am playing through InFamous now and enjoying it. I think I may go back and play the evil version once done with the good.

I am sure Sony wanted to lock up the developer so they know they can be depended on for future titles.
Yeah, it's a good move by Sony. Up until recently, Insomniac has developed exclusively for Sony, but now are going multiplat with a game called Overstrike. It's the first time Insomniac will own the IP of a game they are developing and is being published by EA.
