Good day!

I currently have a sony cdp-c265, 5 disc cd changer and I am having a hard time believing that the remote does not have an on/off button! I am trying to set up my new Harmony 880 to operate the unit but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to turn it on/off via remote! Does anyone have any experience with such a device?


This link shows a remote similar to mine (same buttons different model), which is model number rm-d75.

anyway can anyone tell me if this cd player has the ability to turn itself on/off via remote? I just can't imagine it not being able to do such a thing! Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

The problem is that you can't. And actually, a surprising number of dedicated CD-only changers are like that. Hard power button only and no actual power on/off IR codes.


My mom's 50-disc Sony changer (about 10 years old now) is like that.


But I really wouldn't worry so much as CD players consume so little power at idle. Just leave the thing on unless its display really annoys you that much.
