Does anybody own one and have comments on its sound, reliability, etc?

I have the ES version of this changer, the CDP-M555ES.

I bought it instead fo the CDPCX450 because it has better DAC's. This is important if you plan to have more than one changer in your system, because Sony requires multiple changers to be connected by analog outputs. I found the sound through the analog outs was better than what I obtained using the optical out and the DAC's in my Yamaha RX-V795a receiver.

It also has a 5 year warranty, vs. one year for non-ES gear.

Whichever unit you buy, check out www.oade.com . They are an authorized Sony dealer and gave me great pricing and service.

You might also want to check out www.nirvis.com , makers of the Slink-e, a computer interface that can download all of the track and title information for your discs from the internet CDDB database. I entered all of this title and artist data for my 390 discs by hand (using the keyboard input on the changer), and it probably took me over 20 hours. The slink-e will do this for you, unattended, in a couple of hours. The Slink-e uses CDJ, an excellent jukebox control program, and is also a multi-zone whole house IR transceiver. Very cool - I'm getting one for myself for Christmas.
