I own a Sony D50 with ~ 5000 hrs use and have been having a drift problem._ The drift is not with registration / convergence but with image shift._ Throughout the course of watching a movie the image will shift 1/2" up, down, left and right._ Is this a common problem and does anyone know what may be the cause ?

You need to turn Picture orbiting off.

You need to get into the service menue.

enter, enter, up arrow, down arrow, enter.

It will then ask you do you wish to enter the service mode, just answer yes.

Then get into the menue, and go down to where you will find new areas,

I can't remember which one but you will find it I"m sure.

Then turn Picture orbiting off.

Regards

Thanks for the tip I'll try that tonight. I think you are right about orbiting as I did not have the blanking set at that display limits. I had recently adjusted left and right blanking and come to think I did not notice any side to side image shift last night.

I'll try both adjusting blanking and toggling orbitting.

Just a quick note to say that mine (orbiting) is on and that it has never bothered me. I have never attempted to measure the amount of displacement, but 0.5 inches (on a large screen) seems reasonable.

Perhaps I'm less particular about such things, but I feel it's a feature worth using (although I'm not sure how much it actually helps in preventing burn-in).
