I'm currently running a Sony VPH-1272Q with HTPC and am ready for a new projector now that I'm moving.

I could get either a slightly used SONY G70Q or a new JVC DLA-SX21U.

I currently have a 100-inch, Da-Lite matt-white screen (1.1 gain), and the new rooms ambient light can be controlled.

Will I be disappointed if I stray from the CRT world?

Thanks,

:) neil

Neil, Does a bear do it in the woods? Don't even consider being a traitor. The G70 gets my vote.

You could get a low hour Marquee 9500LC for what you would pay for the JVC unit.

I have both a G70 and a JVC G150 (the big brother to the SX21) and Iwill say straight up, it is a difficult choice. Both throw an excellent but very different picture. The DILA is very smoth, sharp and punchy, whilst the G70 is more 3 dimensional and lifelike. As a rule I generally prefer the G70 for DVDs and DILA for HD.

Having said that I think if you owned a CRT previously, you might be disappointed with the contrast on the SX21.

There really is no substitute for trying to see both for yourself, both are excellent projectors and you can't go too wrong with either
