ok I need some help here.

I am looking to get a HDTV CRT. I can get the Philips refurb for 350 +tx. but if you feel that I should get the sony then, i need help on the price. I am in Southern Cal (OC area) and want to get the best price. If you got this from CC and a really cheap price or even open box please let me know how you got it at that price. I would love to get the sony but i am thinking to save $$.

please help!

There are no contest. XBR970 will win whether it's the same price or $1,000
ok...now i guess i need help on people to give me help on getting a great deal on the 970.
If you can find a 970 locally, then you probably won't have trouble getting a good deal. People seem to be finding it for $500 - $600. Just find out who has it in stock in your area.
well the CC in my area is selling a open box and a sealed box. the open box is going for 639.... and the sealed for 699....i thought the pricing was cheaper! can someone help me?
Well, that sucks. I'd expect better prices, especially for the open box. Does AAA still have those 10% off Circuit City coupons that don't exclude XBR? FWIW, it probably varies a lot, but my Circuit City seems pretty open to haggling. The 970 went as low as $600 on the website, so maybe you could find an employee who would match that. And get a AAA coupon if you know a member.

Most CC coupons exclude XBR, but the AAA coupon doesn't (or didn't). I didn't hear of anyone having any trouble using it on the 970.
take a look here....I am willing to get AAA cause i don't have it for my car....

I'd MUCH rather have a NEW TV than a used one... espeically from a store that has them turned on 12+ hours a day..

But then again, it's my money I'm spending, and a hundred dollars is worth a new item than a used one to me..
Sorry, maxlax. The coupons did not exclude XBR TVs in the past, based on what I read here at AVS and at FatWallet.

Regardless of what it says, the AAA coupon was honored online for everyone who tried - including me. I'm guessing it should work in store as well. Most CC stores are desperately trying to move these monsters out to make room for flat panels, so they should be happy to sell it with the coupon.

I don't know about SoCal but the closest Frys to me (in Austin, TX) was selling them for $512 a week or so ago. It's worth a phone call.

we have fry's out here......I'll have to check with them....$512 new in box?
$699 is still a great price. i bought mine for $800 six months ago and would have happily paid $1k. there's only a finite number of these tv's left. our local fry's just ran out. if you wait too long, you may miss out.
thanks all i just got new in box the KD34XBR970 for 512 at Fry's in fountain Valley,CA ( the OC)!!!
