An old but beautiful Sony Plasma has a clamshell type crack in the glass within the viewing area. It is less than half an inch, but a true chip, not a scratch.

2 questions-

1)any way to repair it? I called some windshield guys and they won't touch it because windshields are laminated and presumably this is not.

2) how might I find a similar tv that was damaged by electrical or water where the glass might still be in perfect condition?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Well that TV was discontinued like 4-5 years ago so you'd need a stroke of luck to find a non-operable unit in someone's possession. When an old clunker like this goes bad people find out that the cost to repair exceeds the cost of a new TV so they just trash em. You might try Ebay or Craigslist and hope to come across one.
