I am holding a raincheck for a Sony 46" that Costco ran out of and are replacing with this model for the same $799. Is this a newer and possibly better model?

Sorry the older Sony model was a KDL-46 VL150

I believe it is a better model. It is the new 2010 model. I have the 55EX501 and it so far has been fine and working great as compared to the 55V5100 that I had. So far I believe the EX500/501 models are better than the V series that it is replacing. You also should get a 3 year warranty on the EX501 model compared to 1 year on the V series.

We got this today & I attached a photo.

The picture quality is very good. The sound quality is very good.

This model from Costco has a 3 year warranty. If you buy it with your AMEX card from Costco, you get another year so a total of 4 years.

The model from BestBuy/SonyStyle/Amazon have 1 year warranty.


The dimensions of the box are: 52.75 x 30 x 7.5 inches in case you're wondering if it fits in your car.

It did fit in the backseat of a 2008 Honda Accord.

yeah, the EX500 is better. It's a 2010 model.
