Now that the new Sony 955 series plasmas are out, the older KE-42XS910 can be had for a great price. No one has posted comments on this forum about this display. It's obviously not as good as the high end Sony, but how good/bad is it??

One thing that is different is the native resolution of 1024x1024. This is the ALiS display. Anyone have an informed opinion about this display and how well it does with various input resolutions?

We were all set to get the Panasonic 42" EDTV (or its JVC cousin) but ran into this Sony on closeout. Grabbed one of the last ones on Saturday (now they are all gone). Hopefully we will like enough things about it to offset the fact that the blacks aren't as good as the Panny.

thanks

I recently got the 37XS910.......... on a great closeout price.....

As it is not my main display for viewing, it works out just fine........

It's in my computer room, and I sit about 5 feet from it........

HD on it looks terrific......

DirecTv is mostly watchable, some channels look better than others........

Blacks are fine with me, for the use that I have it for......

If it was my main display, I could probably live with it....especially for what it cost........

Don't let the fact it is a 1024x1024 Alis display sway you either way......

I looked at the 42XS910, and when considering how close I sit to it, I went with the 37 inch display, as the picture, as one would expect was a little better with the smaller panel......

Just look at the picture, and decide on that....

720p and 1180i both look great.....

All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase.....
