The kv-36hs500 has a dvi input that says is hdcp compliant. However i am having difficulties with it. I tried a hdmi-to-dvi adapter which failed. Then I tried a hdmi-to-dvi cable which also failed. I tried 720p and 1080i. Anything at all will help!

What is your source? Do you have more than one to try? Are you routing the hdmi through any intermediate components such as a switch or A/V receiver?

FWIW, I have an HS510 (the HS500's descendent) that played nice with my Moto cable stbs DVI port. Does your BDP allow you to send 480i or p via the hdmi out? If it does, maybe that will shed some light. Intermediate hdmi components are notorious for causing hdcp problems.
