Sony Media Center PC wont output 720p over component!

I bought a Sony Media Center PC (the one with the 200 disc changer). My intent was to distribute the video from the disc changer through a Crestron PVID8x3 Video Matrix Switcher.

The Sony has HDMI and Component outputs, but will only allow 480i DVD output through the component signal. I can set the resolution to 1280 x 720 with the component outputs, and it works fine, but when I play a DVD, there's no playback unless I switch the resolution to 640x480.

If I use the HDMI output, all is well, except the Crestron Video Matrix has no HDMI inputs, only component.

Send it back, you as a customer should buy into a different brand that does what you want.
Actually all Media Centers, DVD players, anything that legally can playabck DVDs will do the same thing. Because of Macrovision copy protection contained on all (most) commercial DVDs, they won't allow you to playback DVDs at resolutions higher than 480p. Blame the studios for this.

Having said that, you can download free or commercial software that will let you get around that limitation, but I ain't mentioning them here
