About a month ago I already had a "topic" about this problem. Since then I've had some progress. But it is still not the way I want it. Who can help me out here?
OK, so I have a IFB 3000 (Line doubler) in my switcher. It has 3 S-video inputs and 1 component input. The person who sold it to me said: "The component input goes through the line doubler, the S-video input goes straight through to the S-video output. Of course this wasn't right, see last topic.
Today I finally received my 5*BNC-->5*BNC cable, so I started messing around with my toys again. It appears "Mark_A_W" was right in saying, in the last topic, that the S-video inputs as well as the component input go through the line doubler, because when I hook up an S-video signal now, I get a de-interlaced picture through the BNC cable to the PJ. Only one little problem, the picture is in black and white only. Whatever I try I can't get it fixed. When I hook it up directly to the PJ, oh the pretty colors, but interlaced.
Second problem is the component input, which gives me no output at al. I hooked up my xbox, and my sat receiver, as far as I know with the correct cable and setting. But in this case nothing happens, it seems no signal at all is coming to the PJ.
Unfortunately I do not have any other output devices to test these component signals, so I cannot say 100% sure that they work, but the chance of both falling IMO is slight to none existing.
Who has the solution to one or all of my problems, any help is appreciated.
I know it only takes an interlaced signal. What I didn't know is that it has to be in the last four inputs, I plugged it in the first four, so I'm gona try that right away. Why is that anyway?
And there I almost thought this was gona be a happy day after all. Unfortunatly though moving the board to the last inputs made no difference what so ever.
Still unhappy and hoping for an answer to my problems.
OK, I took a look at these and tried a few things, still no difference.
But a few question do arise:
1) I don't use that special sony cable that you must hook up to the Remote 1, I only have an RGBHV cable connected between the switcher and the PJ. I don't know if this has anything to do with my problems.
2) On the second of the three pages you provided is shown a picture of the so called PAGE 4. The values on my screen are somewhat different compared to those: fH: 34.3 (Internal oscillation); fV 65; sync on green: --- and Input signal: ---. So I do not see this IDTV thing, is this because of what I described in my first point?
3) I played around with the two Switch Settings described on the last page, tried all 4 possible combinations (you never know), but it had no effect at all. Still only black & white with an S-video input. No reaction what so ever on the component input nor on the 3 composite inputs. When I connect the green component output directly to the composite input on the PJ it shows me an interlaced black & white picture, so I think the component output is working fine.
@ Mark_A_W: I meant the component output of my sat reciever or XboX.
@ BenY: The guy I bought the thing from told me that this "remote" connecion was in quality inferior to the RGBHV connection. That's why I only use the RGBHV. I don't even have that special sony cable, should I try and get one, or won't it make any difference?
I Have only the operating manual for the PC-1271 ,and the Service Manual for the IFB-3000 but it`s quite big full with dual page schematics that i just can`t copy.
do you have any other inputs? if you have a rgbhv input card (ifb10 or 11), what happens when you use it? if your pic is B/W with that then the output card and/or power supply is the problem... it sounds to me like you have a bad 3000 beinz that you dont get anything from the component input.. that doubler isnt the greatest anyway, perhaps you should look into a outboard doubler or scaler. the only real benefit of the 1270 or 71 switcher for me is when you use the CCQ or SIC cable. this gives you the ability to control the switcher from the PJ and you can then hide your equipment out of sight. good luck... ken
