Peter Putman did another review of various LCD and Plasma TV's. The sony PFM-42X1's blacks measure .18 nits. The sony had other issues so it was rated low, but it looks like other panels are catching up to Panny. Does anyone know if this is an LG or NEC panel?

I own one of these panels(it was a warranty replacement for a dead 42B1) the blacks on this unit are indeed excellent and as good as panasonics I've seen. The unit is made in korea, but I'm not sure who makes the panel. From looking at the barrier rib structure, it's not a panasonic glass, nor is samsung glass. So it could either be LG based or maybe NEC. Personally I'm leaning towards it being LG glass because of their recent 5000:1 panels and current NEC glass doesn't seem to have the same black performance.
