i'm a newbie and old. this makes me doubly electronically challenged. have a DVD recorder (model in title) and can't get it to record squat. have the proper media (DVD-RW), formatted it and nothing when i hit record. tried for 3 minutes, stopped and hit play, just snow. will play a pre-recorded video no problem. i have the feeling it's operator error. any suggestions?

You recorded some channel apparently, but there was no signal on that channel.


Here's what you do:


- Connect the output of the DVD Recorder so you can see it on your TV. I imagine you've already done this since you can see DVDs playing.


- With the TV showing the output of the DVD Recorder (as when you're watching a DVD playing), tune to the channel you wish to record. Just like a VCR.


- Hit the Record button once you see the channel you want to record (or any channel, just to test it).


- Stop the recording after some time. Then play it back like you did when you saw static. You should see whatever you were seeing while the recording was in progress. Which hopefully was not static.
