Trying to compare Apples and Oranges here. Figured I'd ask.

I've Researched the Pioneer VSX 919AH-K quite a bit.

I finalized purchasing the Pioneer, until this afternoon.

The Sony STR-DA4300ES(MSRP $1200) is listed today at the same price as the Pioneer VSX 919AH-K - $399

Two different receiver classes with different specifications.

I will be using the receiver to decode the Blu-ray movies and listening to lossless audio. Not concerned about video chip as I will have my TV handle conversion.

In short, I am looking for the receiver with the best sound.

I am aware that the speaker built is important, as of now I will be using the Polk Audio RM 85 5.0-CH home theater speaker system with a sub. I do plan on upgrading.

Let me know what you guys/ladies think?

I'm on the fence here.

Just based on the difference between length of warranty (5 year Sony vs 1 year Pioneer), available connectivity (see pictures) and weight which is an indication of the amps that are used (32 pound Sony vs 19 pound Pioneer) I'd opt for the 4300ES. JMO

It will upgrade a 10 yr old sony 5.1 STR-DB930 which is still going strong.
