Greetings, CC has this model for $300.

Its 5.1 light years ahead of what I have.

Granted its not a lot of money but I could rent a fare amount of movies with 300 bucks (and suffer my faux surround a little longer)and keep looking. My concerns are: What is "Cimema Sound" and how far off is 30.1 audio? I am Tired of buying something that should be replaced two days after I get it home.

NOTE: I had my audio problems sovled (just last week) but that went south and now I'm shopping again. Ugh. Any word out there on what this unit lacks or has to offer?

Dear *****,

Thank you for voting.

(That's the most succint Responce I've seen.

I like that.)

One irrelevent reply and vote thumbs down.

(Not what I would call a brou ha~ha.)

The Sony touch pad wireless, remote is what caught my eye. Thus A Sony system.

Would any Sony Recv. get your vote?

Any other suggestions?

The $$$ problem is restoring an old building, that we call home, without taking out loans. Everything we have is paid for. Humble at times: but having 0 debt is very nice.

Much progress since but here's the Address

Thanks again, jdb. http://www.geocities.com/straycatpro...s/Peabody.html

NOTE: Link code is still a source of head scratching for me.

Wheather it's Sony or another brand,

get a reciever that's got S-video

connectors for all video inputs.

Don't settle for less than 3 digital

inputs.Make sure you like the remote,

unless you plan to get a pronto or

some other remote.

Some inexpensive recievers that

are pretty good.

1. Pioneer 608

2. Sony 940 ( check their website but

I think this one has like about 4 S-VIDEO inputs and pre-outs for main

channels).

3. I'd look at Onkyo and JVC and maybe

Kenwood, but I don't think any of Kenwoods lower-priced models have S-video inputs and some only have 2

dig. inputs.

My sister has the Pioneer 608 and it

gives alot of features for the $. I

don't particularly like the remote,but

at this price-point (350-400) you do

not get the super-cool remote. The Sony 940 costs more but sure has a nice feature package,I think it's more

like $500ish.
